Bat rules for 2016

The following is a quick summary for your review. Please be aware of these changes before you buy a bat for the 2016 season. All bats in our catalog and on our website are marked if they meet the new specifications.


College

College bats must be stamped BBCOR certified. Any bat with a BESR stamp is not legal.


High School

High School bats must be stamped BBCOR certified. Any bat with a BESR stamp is not legal.


Cal Ripken Division of Babe Ruth (6-12)

The bat may not exceed 33" in length, and the bat barrel may not exceed 2-1/4" in diameter. Only 2-1/4" barrel non-wood bats marked BPF 1.15 will be allowed. Wood barrel bats must be 2-1/4".


Babe Ruth (ages 13-15)

The bat may not exceed 34" in length, and the bat barrel may not exceed 2-5/8" in diameter. All aluminum/alloy barrel bats and all composite handle (only) aluminum/alloy barrels are allowed. Only composite barrel bats certified and marked BBCOR .50 will be allowed. Wood barrel bats conforming to the specifications of Official Baseball Rule 1.10 are allowed. Bats that are not composite can have a 2-5/8" barrel and can not exceed 34".


Babe Ruth (ages 16-18)

The bat may not exceed 34" in length and the bat barrel many not exceed 2-5/8" in diameter or be greater than a -3 length to weight ratio. Only metal/composite bats certified and marked BBCOR .50 are allowed. Wood barrel bats conforming to the specifications of Official Baseball Rule 1.10 are allowed. Bats that are not composite can have a 2-5/8" barrel and can not exceed 34".


Little League (ages 5-12 Rule 1.10 - Baseball)

  • The bat must be a baseball bat which meets Little League specifications and standards as noted in this rule. It shall be a smooth, rounded stick and made of wood or of material and color tested and proved acceptable to Little League standards.

Little League (Majors) and below:

The bat shall not be more than thirty-three (33) inches in length nor more than two and one-quarter (2-1/4) inches in diameter. Non-wood bats shall be labeled with a BPF (bat performance factor) of 1.15 or less.


Junior & Senior League (ages 13-18)

All Senior League bats must be stamped BBCOR certified.

Junior League is requiring composite bats to meet BBCOR Standard. Any non-composite bat can be used, i.e -5, -8 as long as they 2-5/8" barrels
